Part P1. What is Part P?From 1st January 2005, anyone carrying out Domestic Electrical Installation work must comply with Part P of The Building Regulations Act, and must be certified by a member of a Competent Person Self Certification Scheme, such as East Finchley Electrical who are registered with the NICEIC 2. Why was Part P introduced? The Building Act has been revised to include Electrical Installation to provide protection against there being a source of fire or cause of injury. The Fire Brigade, which has welcomed the change said 4% of fire deaths are caused by poor wiring and appliance faults 3. How is Part P being enforced?Any person carrying out electrical works that contravenes with the Building Regulations can be fined up to £5000.00 for the contravention The Householder is ultimately responsible for ensuring that Electrical work complies with the Building Regulations in his/her dwelling It is the householder/owner who may be ultimately be served with an enforcement notice However the primary responsibility for achieving compliance rests with the person carrying out the electrical works. 4. How does the law change effect East Finchley Electrical?EFEC is an NICEIC contractor and has been since 1974, this change in law does not affect the way we work as we are already self-certifying, and all our works comply and will still comply with the new Regulations, nothing changes for us On completion of all our works we will guarantee that you will receive all the necessary documentation you need to show compliance |
